Education Innovation Support

A long-term contract position is available for Education Innovation Support in the Washington, DC area.

To claim this spot, you need to prove your passion for interactive simulated environments - but also imaginative, detail-oriented and productive. We're looking for a talented person, who can communicate, exhibit grace under pressure and work within a fast-paced eLearning team to develop standards-based, lead-generation solutions. All work must be performed onsite in our Washington, DC office.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds (FCVW)
Maintain database
Administrate wiki and account creation
Respond to email questions regarding the Federal Consortium
Organize demos for virtual worlds
Research VW technologies for Consortium events and potential purchase for IS Lab
Assist in writing SOW for purchase of VW tools and services
POC for Annual Spring Virtual Worlds Conference
Scheduling IRM Government Center in Second Life
Oversee working groups
Conduct presentations on FCVW and virtual worlds in government
Gathering metrics on IRM Government Center
Provides technical expertise in the use of virtual worlds
Provides support for USDA pilot project for secure government hosting for virtual worlds
  2. New College Technologies
  a. Administrate Communities of Practice (CoP)
  Member administration (access/permissions)
  Technical expert of CoP tool in college
  b. Administrate ePortfolio
  Technical expert of ePorfolio tool in College
  Member administration (access/permissions)
  Schedule faculty training & demos
  c. Administer Google Apps for college (assign accounts, troubleshoot)
  3. Special projects as assigned

Required Skills and experience

  1. Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds (FCVW)
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; degree in technology, instructional design or communications preferred
Ability to navigate in virtual worlds
Experience in training, education, or instructional design
Self-motivated individual capable of managing work with limited direct supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills, especially written and oral communications skills
Demonstrated ability to identify users needs, analyze and logically organize information, and transform information into professionally designed, engaging and effective training programs
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Skill in the use of computers, instructional media, and relevant authoring and programming languages
Strong knowledge of online collaborative tools, social networking, and Web 2.0 a plus
